daily stages
Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
Namaste and welcome to Nepal!
Day 2
Kathmandu
Discover the temples in Kathmandu and enjoy the local cuisine at the welcome dinner. This day is for discussing the trek again to make sure you have everything you need and can start the trek without any worries.
Day 3
Kathmandu to Shyabru Besi
We travel by jeep over hills and through small villages to Shyabru Besi at 1,500 metres above sea level, the starting point for our trek. We meet our porters and take care of the final organisational details.
Day 4
Shyabru Besi to Sherpagaon (2550 masl)
We begin our trek and hike to the Tamang village of Khangjim, then continue on to Sherpagaon. We are walking in the Langtang National Park, and with a bit of luck we may spot Himalayan mountain goats or even a red panda.
Day 5
Sherpagaon to Ghoratabela (3030 masl)
We hike down to the Langtang Khola river and follow it to Ghoratabela.
Day 6
Ghoretabela to Mundu (3,500 masl)
Continuing along the river, we reach the village of Langtang, which was almost completely destroyed by a landslide during the earthquake in 2015. After Langtang, we arrive in Mundu, where we spend the night.
Day 7
Mundu to Kyanjin Gumba (3,850 masl)
The valley opens up and we catch sight of the 7,000 m peaks of the Langtang Himal. The last village in the valley is relatively large and even has a cheese factory where yak cheese is produced. We will stay here for three nights and explore the fascinating area.
Day 8
Discover the valley
After the last village, the valley becomes wild and lonely, not many people come here. We walk into the valley and have time to discover the historic landslide and search for a wide variety of stones. Ideal for switching off and simply enjoying yourself.
Day 9
Climbing Tserko Ri (4,950 masl)
Those who climb Tserko Ri come close to the 5,000-metre mark. From there, but also from further down, you can enjoy the view of the moraines and the huge, impressive alluvial fan in the valley.
Day 10
Kyanjin Gumba to Lama Hotel (2,480 masl)
We walk back down the valley to Lama Hotel. You will be amazed at how many new facets you see when you change direction in the valley.
Day 11
Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2210 masl)
We soon leave familiar territory and turn off from Langtang Khola. We hike through cultivated terraced fields to the village of Thulo Syabru.
Day 12
Thulo Syabru to Shin Gompa (3600 masl)
Today, it's mainly uphill! We are rewarded with a view all the way to Tibet.
Day 13
Cholangpati to Gosaikundo (4,480 masl)
After another climb, we reach the sacred Gosaikundo Lakes. We forget our exertions when we see several 8,000m peaks.
Day 14
Gosaikundo
You can either take a well-deserved rest day or, if you're feeling ambitious, you have the option of climbing one of the surrounding peaks and myabe even breaking the 5,000-metre barrier.
Day 15
Gosaikundo via the Laurebin Pass to Upper Ghopte
Once again, we climb to 4,600 metres above sea level on the Laurebin Pass before descending back into the forests. In Upper Ghopte, we spend the night at 3,600 metres above sea level.
Day 16
Upper Ghopte to Mangengoth (3,250 masl)
We hike to Thadepati Pass and then through rhododendron forests along the Helambu range to Mangengoth.
Day 17
Mangengoth to Chipling
We continue our descent and leave Langtang National Park. Via Kutumsang, we head to Chipling at 2200 metres above sea level.
Day 18
Chipling to Mulkharka
We are back in the villages and get an insight into village life in the countryside. We make our way through the dense jungle to Mulkharka. The stones do not disappoint either, and we can find unusually large pieces of mica.
Day 19
Mulkharka to Sundarijal and then back to Kathmandu
We cross the last meters of Shivapuri National Park north of Kathmandu. From Sundarijal, we continue by car back to Kathmandu.
Day 20
Kathmandu
Reserve day in Kathmandu or time to visit the many temples and try the local coffee at the Himalayan Coffee House, treating yourself to a slice of cake.
Day 21
Departure
It is already time to leave Nepal. Hopefully, many wonderful memories will remain. See you soon! Peri betaula!

Reviews
Our tour in the Langtang Valley was an unforgettable experience!
Natalie from VoegeliTours picked us up at the airport and from then on everything was superbly organised. In addition to the breathtaking views and exciting landscape, it was a pleasure to listen to Natalie's explanations about the glaciers and river landscapes in the Langtang Valley. Highly recommended.

Langtang Valley – a highlight
Our trip to Langtang with VoegeliTours was a fantastic experience. We were very well looked after and the explanations about the effects of the earthquake in this valley were very interesting.

The 17-day Langtang Valley trek in Nepal with VoegeliTours is absolutely amazing. First, we explored the Langtang Valley all the way to Kyanjin. There, we were able to marvel at the glacier world and, of course, climb Tserko Ri at 5,000 metres above sea level, as well as explore a prehistoric landslide. The sacred lakes of Gosainkunda and the crossing of the 4610 m high Lauribina Pass were breathtaking. The route back to Kathmandu was also extremely exciting. We hiked through a wide variety of vegetation, saw many different animals – I even came across a red panda mother with two cubs – and got into conversation with the inhabitants of small villages while drinking tea.
During our excursion, Natalie, a geologist and tour guide, explained the geology of the Himalayas to us geologically ignorant tourists so well that we immediately felt the need to study geology ourselves. That's not the only unique feature of VoegeliTours. VoegeliTours' offerings are also highly recommended because they
- They give participants an understanding of Nepal's culture and eating habits.
- Groups have a minimum of three and a maximum of six participants.
- There is always a local guide who assists Natalie with everything and is also available to answer any additional questions participants may have in English.
- As Natalie also speaks Nepali, she is able to involve the porters in the group. The game evenings with Dumbhal, a card game, and the mutual language exchange are unique. In any case, I have never had such good contact with the local people on other trekking tours as I did with VoegeliTours.
- In addition, the daily stages are so well planned that we were able to acclimatise really well and no one had any problems with the altitude, not even at 5,000 metres above sea level.
